Norway recalls its rugged heritage of marauding Vikings in its spectacular landscape of jagged mountains, windswept arctic glaciers, and hundreds of deep winding fjords dotted with isolated fishing villages. Modern Norwegians no longer battle foreigners, but instead welcome them with lively arts, culture, and dining in the capital of Oslo, and share their enthusiasm for outdoor activities like hiking and camping along the coasts or in the forests in summer, and skiing on all kinds of flats and hills in the winter.
